Batu Caves

Batu Caves, located in gombak district, is said to be the most popular tourist destination in Selangor. It has never ceased to attract visitors, both local and foreign. Only 15 km north of Kuala Lumpur, the caves consist of three main caves and a number of smaller ones. Visitors could reach the top cave via the 272 steps built specially to scale the steep, jagged face of the limestone outcrop. During the thaipusam festival, Batu Caves hosts the largest gathering of hindu devotees in malaysia. Thaipusam is a religious festival where hindus pay annual homage to lord muruga. Batu Dam

Visitors cruising along Hulu Yam -Gombak road would never miss to appreciate the panoramic view of this dam. Rest-stops are equipped with basic amenities such as gazebos to allow visitors to feel the refreshing breeze blowing into their faces. Its picturesque settting is an excellent haunt for shutterbugs.

Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam

It has succeeded amazingly in presenting a large part of rural Malaysia in a nutshell-some 1258 hectares in all. Those who appreciate beauty will find serenity in the mere smell of grass, richness in the colour of live-giving chlorophyll and strength in a solid trunk. Tropical Fruits Garden and Arboretum in Bukit Cahaya where there's a living collection of fruit and trees. One can also visit the Mushroom Garden which is the home to several species of cultivated mushrooms. The Animal Park, spread over 72 hectares of land, houses several types of livestock. Among those that you'll get to see are goats, rabbits, cows and sheep. Across from Animal Park is the Aviary, comprising massive cages and housing a number of species of local and other exotic birds from many lands. The heart of soul of Bukit Cahaya must be the Forestry Arboretum where the art and science of agro-forestry come to life.

Bukit Melawati

This landscaped hill offers a panoramic view of the Selangor coast and the Klang Valley. Shaded by ancient raintrees are several fascinating historical attractions such as the Altingsburg Lighthouse, the Royal Mausoleum, the ruined Fort (Kota) Melawati, the legendary 100 steps, a fabled execution-block, children's playground and a quaint resthouse which offers wholesome meals for tired travellers.

Bukit Takun

A swimming pool, filled by the waters of a natural stream, is one of the attractions, as are walks in the forest. The More adventurous can try to make their way into the cave in anak Bukit Takun, a 100m high limestone hill, near the edge of the park. Alternatively, one can try to find the route to the top of the nearby 350m high Bukit Takun, in the adjacent serendah forest reserve, to view the razor-edged, 30m high, linestone pinnacles. The latter is quite dangerous and should only be done with experienced guides and special equipment.

Commonwealth Forest Park

North-bound tourists heading towards rawang from Kuala Lumpur should make an attempt to visit the the Commonwealth Forest Park which is located beside the trunk road. Located in the hulu Selangor district, the Hulu Tamu Hotsprings is often visited by water from the underground springs is believed by some to have medicinal value, especially in cures for skin ailments and rheumatism. Once the seat of ancient kings, the placid town of Jugra has several fascinating hostoric buildings.
