Bao Sheng Durian Farm
 There's a place in Penang where one can savour the 'king' of
fruits in the natural atmosphere of the woodlands. With textures
and flavours ranging from smooth and fragrant to husky and
bitter-sweet, these champion fruits of the Bao Sheng Durian Farm in
the north western coast of Penang will undoubtedly leave an
exquisite taste in your mouth and an unforgettable experience in
your mind. Your visit to the Bao Sheng Durian Farm includes a tour
of an authentic plantation, a talk on the different species of
durians, a first-hand view of how durians are collected and a full
scale feast of durians under thatch-roofed stalls.
 In fact, in
1987, 1988, 1989, 1991 and again in 1993 the Hor Lor, Red Prawn,
Kun Poh Ang Bak, D-601 Green Skin Ang Bak, Lipan, D-600, Little
Red, D-604, D-11 strains were judged the best in Penang. Other
popular local fruits for your sampling (at a special price) in the
farm includes Rambutan, Langsat, Duku, Mangosteen, Nutmeg and Star
Fruit.
Location . There are two routes exist. One from
the north via the Batu Feringgi coastal road and the other from the
Bayan Lepas International Airport. The Northern route is advised as
it is more scenic and less confusing.
The Bao Sheng Durian Farm is open daily from 11.00am
to 5.00pm.
Durian season starts from May until August 2001.
