Keria
These tiny doughnuts' are popularly served in the afternoon.They do
not have the taste nor the texture of Western doughnuts.They only
look like them.
Sweet potatoes are versatiles; they could be used as
vegetables or ingredients for cake-making, somewhat similar to the
potatoes. They can aiso be eaten boiled with a little coconut and
sugar.
Where Keria can be found ? Keria can be found in the
malay food stall or just walk along the street market and you can
get it as cheap as rm 0.30per piece.
Ingredients :
- 600 g sweet potatoes
- 300 g flour
- 150 g sugar
- 600 ml oil
- 250 ml water
Method :
- Boil sweet potatoes till cooked. Peel and
mash. Knead mashed sweet potatoes with flour.
- Take a tablespoonful of the dough and shape it
into doughnut shapes, the smaller the better.
- Heat oil in frying pan. Fry doughnuts until
golden brown. Drain.
- Boil sugar and water until thick. Place
doughnuts into the thick' sugar and stir until doughnuts are
well-cotaed.
- Cool and serve.
