Gunung Senyum Cave

At Gunung Senyum Caves there are at least 20 caves, which are fascinating to explore. While cave exploration and camping in the shade of tropical foliage are common activities, scientific research is also gaining in popularity among students and scientists. Cave explorers must be prepared for the smell of bats, limestone rocks and the sighting of strange creatures and insects.

Lake Bera

Lake Bera, covering an area of 24,000 hectares, is one of two major natural bodies of freshwater in malaysia. At present, several semelaiaborigines are living in the area within and surroundings. Lake Bera and a number continue to live and procure their food in traditional ways. Others have modified their way of life and have become permanent residents of post iskandar. The Lake Bera watershed includes a wide variety of flora types ranging from primitive algae species to higher plants and trees. It was recorded that 328 species of flora, 200 species of birds and 95 species of fishes are found in Lake Bera. tbera Lake Bera is ideal for many recreational and adventure activities. Trekking through the jungle is both exciting and educational. River safari can be exhilarating, or simply paddle around the lake for a moment of tranquility. Thus, it was protected under an international agreement called the ramsa convention. Lake Bera was declared a ramsar site in november 1994 encompassing a core zone of 26, 000 hectares and a buffer zone of 27, 500 hectares. The semelais have been living in Lake Bera and it's near surroundings since hundreds of years back. Semelai is categorized under "orang asli" or simply the 'original people' or aborigines. They are scattered and live much far into the provincial with no fixed income for a living. Authorities have been trying to bring the semelais to live together as a community near post iskandar, equipped with water as well as electricity. This is to enhance their standard of living.

Jeram Besu

apart from Fraser's Hill, other recreational areas in Pahang include the Jeram Besu rapid. The former is just 30 kilometres from Raub while the latter is only about 3 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur. Jeram Besu is fast gaining popularity as one of the most challenging white water-rafting areas in the country.

Lata Jarum

Lata Jarum is another established picnic spot. It is situated near kampong ulu dong and is accessible by car through 20 kilometres of village road. The access junction is at dong, a town along the Raub-Kuala Lipis road. At Lata Jarum, one can admire the numerous rapids flowing into a shallow pool of crystal clear water.

Tanjung Gemok

Rompin, the latest southern getaway holiday destination now has a new feature - the Tanjong Gemok Jetty. The jetty provides fast ferry services (70 minutes) to Pulau Tioman. Situated 160 km south of Kuantan and only 60 km from Mersing, Tanjong Gemok has business and tourism investment potential. Providing ample cargo areas, waiting terminals and offices for services, coupled with counters and food stalls the jetty awaits the business-minded to establish themselves.

The Orang Asli

The Orang Asli have a thorough knowledge of the jungle and know how best to make use of the plants found here, utilising these jungle products as medicine for ailments as varied as broken bones to mental illness! a number of these plants and herbs have been scientifically proven to be effective, while studies are still being carried out on others to ascertain their medicinal value.
