Kanching waterfall

less than a kilometre further north are the many cascades of the kanching waterfalls, commonly refered to as the templer park falls. Keris monument

this towering silver coloured keris greets the visitor along the federal highway from shah alam to klang. this specially designed memorial depicts the keris semenanjung which symbolises power, strength and unity. the monument has a historical significance because it was erected to commemorate the silver jubilee of the sultan of selangor�s installation in 1985. Klang town

through now overshadowed by shah alam, klang can nevertheless bask in the glory of its past, when it played a significant role in the history of selangor's development. It was the former capital of selangor, and from its strategic position overlooking the klang river, it guarded the entrance to klang valley.

Kota darul ehsan arch

kota darul ehsan arch is the most distinguished landmark in selangor. the gateway to selangor is symbolised by this imposing arch. Kuala lumpur international airport (klia)

malaysia's new gateway to the world by air. Klia is located 50km's south of the city of kuala lumpur in the states of selangor. tourist will embark into a luxuriously landscaped, soothing ambience ie an airport inthe forest / a forest in the airport. the main terminal will serve all domestic, regional and mixed flights whilst the satelite building will cater to international flights. access between the main terminal and satelite building will will be via a track transit system.

Kuala selangor

even before kelang become the capital city of selangor, kuala selangor was the home of the selangor sultanate. Two fortresses were built on the hills overlooking the estuary of the selangor river in order to guard the city. The largest of the two, standing on bukit melawati, is now the royal mausoleum containing the remains of selangor's early bugis rulers. bukit melawati overlooks the kuala selangor nature park, which is being jointly developed by the state government and malayan nature society. It consists of more than 250 hectares of coastal land, most of it mangrove swamp, and contains about 130 species of birds. An estimated 100,000 wading birds, comprising 30 odd species, pass through here on their annual migration. Artifical lakes have been created to attact some of these birds, and observation hides have been built to allow visitors to watch the birds without disturbing them. Leaf monkeys can also be seen in the mangroves.

National zoo

the national zoo and aquarium spans 62 hectares of shady forest land encompassing several ponds and small stgreams, at ulu kelang on the outskirts of the city. Built to resemble as closely as possible the natural habitat of the various animals and birds, the zoo is home to about 1,000 species of flora and fauna from malaysia and other parts of the world. The aquarium houses some 82 species of marine life. For children, there is the added attraction of exciting elephant, camel and donkey-cart rides, boat rides and zoo train. Orang asli museum

the orang asli are the aboriginal people of penisular malaysia, with an estimated population of over 60,000 and who for the most part, still lead a simple yet fascinating lifestyle. Paya indah wetland sanctuary

just 15km north of the klia international airport, this 3,100-hectare wetland sanctuary is a showcase of integrated conservation and development project. Formerly barren land caused by exhaustive tin mining activities, paya indah wetland sanctuary is now being restored to its natural state comprising lakes, peat swamp and lowland forests. It is now home to more than 142 species of birds, 40 species of fish, 25 species of mammals and reptiles, 220 species of aquatic and terrestrial plants. Visitors to this sanctuary can look forward to a myriad of experiences. They can enjoy the fiesta of greenery and wildlife simply by walking along its meandering paths and on boardwalks that lead to the lakes. sekinchan is a little town in the middle of the main rice-bowl area of selangor, in the sabak bernam district. Visitors are able to see large plots of land cultivated to produce the staple food of malaysians. This area is also well known for its mechanised farming methods and high yield of rice. Semenyih dam

semenyih dam, located in hulu langat district, provides one of the most breathtaking sights in the country. The dam, which was built in 1985, supplies a major portion of drinking water to the klang valley population. On a clear day, visitors can see the reflection of the magnificent hills and sky in the still waters of this dam. Shah alam lake gardens

one of the premier attractions of shah alam is its lake gardens, which is the green lung to the town centre. State monument

located adjacent to the selangor state secretariat in shah alam, this lovely and serene state monument with a sweeping arch, reflecting pools and gold inscriptions on gray granite is a favourite hunting ground for shutterbugs, newlyweds and tourists. This is due to its picturesque setting. the annual warrior's day (selangor state level) celebration is held here to honour warriors who have died in serving and defending the country from terrorists. State museum
