Sri Mahamariamman
Temple
Located at Jalan Tun H.S. Lee, is close to Chiatown. Built in 1873.
The temple is said to be the most ornate and elaborate Hindu temple
in the country. The design and decorative features include
intricate carvings of Hindu deities, gold embellishments, precious
stones and hand-painted motifs. Exquisite Italian and Spanish tiles
provide further ornamentation. A silver chariot housed within the
premises features prominently in religious processions,
transporting the statue of the deity through the city streets. |

Sultan Abdul Samad
Building
Sultan Abdul Samad Building , moorish in design, the building,
which was completed in 1897 served as a government administrative
building. It now houses the supreme and the high courts. The clock
tower, affectionately dubbed 'big ben' is a favourite with
photographers. |

Taman Tasik
Permaisuri
It is situated at the satelite town of Bandar Tun Razak is the
largest green-lung in the city. Opened in April 1989, this park has
a lovely man-made lake and beautiful landscaped garden with
7-tiered flower terrace called "Taman Puteri" and a traditional
Malay royal garden, planted with various tropical flowers. Get
acquianted, too with Malaysian herbs at the herbal garden. |

Telekom Museum
Jalan gereja. Tel : 03-201 9966a 1928 heritage building, the
Telekom Museum houses various equipment related to
telecommunications dating to pre-war years, including the first
telephone used in malaya. The building itself is an early prototype
of a telephone exchange in old malaya. Its two floors houses a
historical gallery and exhibits of modern telecommunications
equipment.open : 9am - 5pm, tuesday - sunday. closed : monday.

Textile Museum
Jalan raja. tel : 03-291 7136located within the Sultan Abdul Samad
Building, the Textile Museum displays an Interesting range of
malaysian-made textiles from various States. The Textile Museum was
established to serve as a repository for malaysia's textile
heritage. It also plays a role in disseminating information to
visitors regarding the usage, creativity and foreign influence
evident in local malaysian textiles. Its galleries offer visitors a
glimpse into the art of batik printing, malaysia's popular
handicraft, Songket and Pua weaving. Among them are
batik pelangi which incorporates the tie-resist method of
decorating cloth practised by the Malays during the 18th and 19th
century; Kain dastar, a native fabric of the Lanun and Bajau
tribe and Pua kumbu , A prized traditional material of the

Thean Hou Temple
On a hilltop overlooking jalan syed putra is the magnificent Thean
Hou Temple - one of the largest chinese temples outside the orient.
The grandiose structure represents a succesful combination of
modern architectural techniques and authentic traditional design
featuring imposing pillars, spectacular roofs, ornate carvings and
intricate embellishments. |
