DPANEL Door Panel
Among the Kayan and Kenyah natives, doorways to the chiefs and aristocratic families were enhanced with carvings and paintings, both to denote status as well as to repel malevolent spirits. Large slabs of the buttress roots of the tapang tree measuring three to four feet wide are usually cut for these doors; occasionally the belian ironwood (Sarawak iron wood) is also used.
